Beverly Scott Obituary

Obituary of Beverly Jo Scott Sioux Falls – Beverly Jo Scott, 72, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at her home in Sioux Falls. Memorial service will be Saturday, June 7 at 11:00 am at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes. Beverly was born in Pickstown, SD on June 12th, 1952 to George and Janice (Herrold) Scott. She grew up in Plankinton, SD and graduated from Plankinton High School. She continued many other credit courses in elderly and elementary education, and in graphic arts. Beverly welcomed a son, Michael Alan, into her life on March 29th, 1972. She was united in marriage to Ronald George Svatos Sr. on February 14th, 2004 in Lake Andes, SD. They enjoyed many happy years together before his passing in 2010. Beverly had many career opportunities throughout her life. She worked as a para in kindergarten and head start in Lake Andes, SD, owned and operated a small bakery for a short time in Lake Andes and was Activities Director for 10 years in Pipestone, MN. Beverly moved back to Lake Andes to help her aunt, Gladys Allen, take care of her grandparents, Dwight and Josephine Herrold. Beverly bought and managed River Hills Motel in Lake Andes. After RG's death, Beverly moved back to Plankinton, SD and worked as a para at the school. Beverly enjoyed baking, sewing, developing new recipes, spending time at picnics, camping, fishing, antelope and deer hunting in the fall, and pontooning with friends and family. She was born in Pickstown and always said it was her favorite place to live. She enjoyed fish fries and chislic feeds and especially, the big blast celebrations on the Fourth of July after the fireworks stand closed up. Beverly is survived by her son, Michael (Angela) Scott of Worthing, SD; 5 step-children: Misty, Machelle, Rachelle, Ronald Jr (Angie), and Kristina; 2 sisters: Mary (Wayne) and Sandra (Floyd) of Plankinton, SD; sister-in-law: Jackie of Wagner, SD; 5 grandchildren: Allix (Salena), Ashlynn, Alyssa, George, and Frederick; 2 step-grandchildren: Miranda (Lucas) and Jessica (Delanty); 5 great-grandchildren: Ryder, Jazmyne, Jayde, Javian, and Emma; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband: RG Svatos; parents: George and Janice Scott; brothers: James Scott and Timothy Scott; and special friends: Maggie and Peanut.
