Ruth Villarreal De Luna passed away quietly in her sleep on Sunday, May 11, 2025. Preceded in death by her husband: Estanislao De Luna Perez; parents: Raul and Manuela Villarreal; siblings: Beatriz V. (Jose Manuel) Ruiz, Raul (Clara) Villarreal Jr., Lilia (Jose Humberto) Vazquez, Guillermo Villarreal; and son: Carlos De Luna Rojas.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Mimi (Benjamin) Herd, Rebecca (Ernesto) Treviño III, Francisco De Luna Rojas; grandchildren: Sofia Herd, Audrey Herd, Isabel Herd, Miriam Treviño, Francisco De Luna Amarillas, Juan Carlos De Luna Amarillas, Estanislao (Alejandra) De Luna Islas, Alejandra De Luna Islas, Carlos (Cami) De Luna Islas, Eileen De Luna, Rodrigo De Luna; great-grandchildren: Sebastian De Luna Garcia, Esteban De Luna Garcia, Maya De Luna Garcia, Lucia De Luna Garcia, Ashlyn Camil De Luna Tiscareno, Carlie Bay De Luna Tiscareno, Bella Cozette De Luna Tiscareno, Charlize Danelle De Luna Tiscareno; brother: Miguel Angel (Victoria) Villarreal; sister-in-law: Rosie Villarreal, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ruth was born in Laredo, Texas on December 21, 1935. She was the fifth child of six born to Raul and Manuela Villarreal. Ruth graduated from Martin High School before joining her siblings at Villarreal Electric Co., Inc., (VECO) the family business started by her father in 1935. She worked at VECO into her early 80s. She served in a number of capacities, including as a corporate officer and member of the Board of Trustees.
Ruth loved her family and friends. She enjoyed live music, especially mariachis. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, cooking, and watching movies. She had a strong faith, loved God's word, and was a lifelong member of Sinai Presbyterian Church, where she married Estanislao De Luna Perez in 1969. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 5 to 7 pm at Hillside Funerals and Cremations. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 pm in the chapel..
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Sinai Presbyterian Church beginning at 10 am. All attending are asked to meet at the church by 9:45 am.
A Graveside Service will follow to the Laredo City Cemetery via escorted procession from the church.
Pallbearers will be: Benjamin F.S. Herd, Ernesto Treviño III, Guillermo Vazquez, Andres Villarreal, David Villarreal and Guillermo Villarreal, Jr.
