Michael Reedy Obituary

Michael Sugarloaf Key - Reedy Lewis Reedy February 18, 1943 - January 4, 2025

Mike Reedy (81) was loved by so many people all across the country, and he departed this life for his heavenly home on January 4, 2025. He was surrounded at his home in Sugarloaf Key by his wife of 58 years, Judy, his loving children, Steve and Lisa, and his doggie sidekick, Danie, when he passed peacefully.

He was the son of Lewis (Jack) and Josephine Reedy, and he is survived by his two sisters, Donna Allon and Madeline Zeckser (P-nut). Mike had a wonderful life, full of lots of adventure and love. He spent his childhood in Midwest City, Oklahoma, but loved to spend his summers as a kid with his grandparents on a farm in Breckenridge Texas. He attended, what was then called, "Central State University" in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he was President of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. It was at Central State where he met his wife, Judy, and they married shortly before he went for six months Army active duty training during the Vietnam war. He then spent six years in the Army reserves.

He worked for General Mills Inc. for 33 years in sales and sales management. As a result, he and his family were transferred over the years from Oklahoma to Tennessee, Minnesota, Colorado, California, and Texas. There were so many memories and friendships made by the family as a result of living in those different places, and he talked often about those experiences.

He loved life, his two children, his wife, his friends, his Harley Davidson, music and dancing, and the ocean. He loved his two grandchildren in Key West, Hayden and Grace Riley, to the moon and back, and he loved God! He often talked about how thankful he was to God, and he spent a good amount of his life helping and being there for others. He is sorely missed by those who loved him, but we look forward to seeing him one day in Heaven.

There will be a Celebration of Mike's Life at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, at Key West United Methodist Church, 600 Eaton Street.
