Janet Newman Obituary

Janet "Fletchall" Newman 79 of Platte City, Missouri passed away surrounded by family on June 29, 2025 at the Gower Convalescent Center in Gower, Missouri. Janet was born June 5th, 1946 in Stanberry, Missouri to Keith and Hazel (Devers) Fletchall. She graduated from Stanberry High School and went on to attend Northwest Missouri State University majoring in Business and Library Science. Janet married the love of her life, Larry J. Newman in Stanberry on June 19th, 1964. Together they raised three children in Platte City, Missouri. Janet taught in the Gilman City R-IV Schools, the West Platte R-II Schools, the North Platte R-I Schools, and the Park Hill School District. Janet was a very generous person with her time as well as being extremely caring and helpful. She really enjoyed helping raise her six grandchildren. Although she had many talents and interests, she enjoyed listening to music, playing the piano, gardening, sewing and china painting. Janet was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Smithville, Missouri. Janet was preceded in death by her parents Keith and Hazel Fletchall, sister Colleen (John) Duley and newborn niece Shelly Lawson of Stanberry. She is survived by her husband, Larry J. Newman, Platte City, Missouri and by her three children, Tia (Mike) Bigus of Platte City, Tessa (Aaron) Rhodus of Parkville and Thad (Zenith) Newman of Platte City; grandchildren, Mannon (Colby) Guffey of Platte City, Meritt Bigus of Platte City, Miller Bigus of Platte City, Aadyn and Talon Rhodus of Parkville, and Forrest Newman of Platte City. A brother-in-law, Jim Newman of Warrensburg, Missouri, and many other family members. A Celebration of Life will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. July 7th, 2025 at the Rollins Funeral Home, 1106 Branch Street, Platte City, Missouri 64079.
