Craig Ochs Obituary

Craig L. Ochs (65) resident of Plummer, ID passed away at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d' Alene, ID on August 9, 2025. He was born to Laverne and Joyce (Morgan) Ochs on October 7. 1959 in Colfax, WA. Laverne's work took the family to Washington, Wyoming, and California and he spent his childhood in all those states. At a young age he started working for a farmer in Waitsburg, WA where he began to learn the trade. Craig moved to LaCrosse, WA where he learned to mechanic on farming equipment. He had one marriage that ended in divorce before marrying the love of his life Shellie Schlecht on October 12, 1991, in Reno, NV. The couple made their home in LaCrosse and Craig went to work for Arrow Machinery in Colfax. In 2002 he went to work for Klaveano Ranches near Steptoe Butte area; he was employed by them at the time of his death. Craig enjoyed woodworking, Lego sets, cooking, plumbing, and electrical work. He was a Jack of all Trades with a passion for handy man work, and farming was his love. Craig is survived by his wife Shellie at their home in Plummer; children Brandon Ochs of Seattle, WA, Amber Ochs of Florida, Anthony Ochs of Plummer, ID, and Christopher (Jess) Ochs of Lake Chelan, WA; and brother Brian (Maria) Ochs of Hayden Lake, ID. He is preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of Craig's life will be held at a later date announced in the fall at Klaveano Farm Ranches at Steptoe Butte.
