Kathleen Anne Murphy Sherry

Kathleen Anne Murphy Sherry, age 75, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Marquardt Health Center. She was born on November 19, 1949, in Madison, the daughter of Edward and Regina Murphy.
Kathleen graduated from Edgewood High School in 1968, received her B.S. degree from Edgewood College in 1998, and received her master's degree in nursing from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. She was united in marriage to Mark Sherry on January 3, 1981, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Middleton. Kathleen was a nurse practitioner after earning her master's degree. She also worked as a critical care nurse at Madison General Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She later worked in the Intensive Care Unit at the Viroqua hospital, and at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. She was her parents' primary caregiver during some of their later years.
Kathleen was a proud Badgers football and basketball season ticket holder. She loved to travel, was a talented knitter, an avid bridge player, and a lifelong lover of music.
Kathleen is survived by her siblings, Ed (Julie) Murphy, Maurita (Aaron Marx) Murphy Marx, Michael (Lori) Murphy, Patricia (George Neuberger) Murphy Neuberger and Thomas (Catherine Murphy-Stoeckli) Murphy; sister-in-law, Shery Murphy; brothers-in-law, Scott (Dawn) Sherry and Alan (Jena) Sherry; nieces and nephews, David (Karen) Murphy, Brian (Heidi) Murphy, Alex (Allison) Murphy, Emily Neuberger, Mackenzie (Clint) Downey, Sean (Carissa) Murphy, Katie (Jace) Neuberger Shively, Kelsey Murphy, Sam (Lynsi) Sherry, Jon Sherry, Ben (Ella) Sherry, Hannah Sherry, Sophie Sherry and Griffin Sherry; and great-nieces and nephews, Emma Murphy, Adam Murphy, Luke Murphy, Jake Murphy, Adriana Tillman-Neuberger, Hudson Murphy, Harper Murphy and Josi Sherry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark; parents, Edward and Regina; brother, Stephen Murphy; father-in-law, Stanley Sherry; and mother-in-law, Betty Sherry.
A funeral service was held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Burial took place at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
