Roland Gillen Obituary
Mr. Roland Gillen of Lulu Florida, age 96, passed away on July 4, 2025. Roland was born on August 25, 1928 in Lulu, FL to Clarence and Helen Gillen. Roland married Betty Gillen of Lake City Florida on September 1, 1950. He was a Project Engineer for the State of Florida Department of Transportation for 44 years.
Roland was preceded in death by; his wife of 72 years, Betty Gillen, his parents, Clarence and Helen Gillen, and 2 sons, Clark Gillen and Darryl Gillen.
He is survived by; one Daughter, Jessica A. Huffman, and husband Jack; 2 sons, Geoffrey Gillen and Wendell Gillen, and wife Lori; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Gillen will be held at 10:30AM on Friday July 11, 2025 at the Lulu Advent Christian Church. Interment will follow in the Lulu Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to the Haven Hospice Foundation 4200 NW 90th Blvd. Gainesville Fl 32606 800-727-1889. Roland and I were cousins. His dad, my mother was his sister Nina who passed in1973. Roland and I spent many years together growing up and making memories in Lulu. I´m 98 myself and sadly cannot travel for his services. I will be there in spirit and treasuring our memories.
