Charles Grant Obituary

Curry Grant, a beloved figure in the live music industry and a man whose charisma could light up any room - or stage - passed away recently. Known for his cool demeanor, sharp wit, loyal friendship, and charm, Curry was the kind of person everyone wanted in their corner, and on their crew.

Over a career that spanned more than four decades, Curry worked with some of the most iconic acts in music history, including Fleetwood Mac, Supertramp, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. His lighting designs lit stages across the world and helped shape legendary moments on HBO concert specials and classic MTV videos for Hall & Oates, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, and Stevie Nicks.

In 2004, Curry joined Production Resource Group (PRG) through its merger with Vari*Lite Production Services (VLPS), continuing his work from the Los Angeles office. As Vice President of Concert Touring, he brought a calm confidence to even the most complex shows and remained a trusted partner to both legacy acts and rising stars - still working actively on major tours in his final days.

Curry's legend wasn't limited to concert lighting. His legacy lives on in the music of some of his closest collaborators. According to industry lore, Curry was the inspiration for the songs "You Make Loving Fun" and "Songbird" from Fleetwood Mac's aptly-titled album Rumors.

Beyond the tours and the lore, Curry was first and foremost a loving father and grandfather. He was deeply proud of his family, and brought the same warmth, humor, and generosity to his personal life that he did to his work. He was a mentor to many, a friend to all, and a steady presence in an industry that often moves too fast. His legacy lives on not just in the shows he helped build, but in the people he lifted along the way.

Curry is survived by his son Skyler Grant, daughter Lindsey Annotti, the mother of his children Lorraine Grant, grandson Aiden Annotti, granddaughter Maisie Grant, sister Cindy Anderson, daughter-in-law April Grant, and his son-in-law Branden Annotti.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 8 at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd, Camarillo, CA 93012. A reception celebration of Curry's life will immediately follow at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village.

See you on the other side my friend where there are no share holders to satisfy just friends in an industry that has carried us thru so much.

Condolences...Curry was a "...can do..." man

Curry began his lighting career with us at "Wild West Lighting". He was "qualified" because he was a friend of Jeff Dunham and could operate a crescent wrench and we really needed help to staff the tours !

I guess we are each getting closer to our personal graduation day. I fondly recall showing Curry how to set up a Skrimmer Dimmer and plug in the Prentiss Dunham Looney Lift Par 64´s. Those trees were a genius solution for our zero capital and crazy fun to climb !

No regrets. I´ll look for Curry when I take my final Encore

Skillet, thank you for being such a great and gentle friend, collaborator and confidante through the years, I miss you dearly. They broke the mold when you came along. My condolences to your family. I´ll see you on the other side.
