Gerald Ungefug Obituary

Herald Elden Ungefug, 91, of Laurel, Montana, died June 23, 2025, at home, surrounded by loving family members and friends. He was born on June 2, 1934, in Billings, Montana, to Carl and Sophie Ungefug (Ruff). He had 5 siblings. He married Geraldine, Gery (Sorg) Ungefug on February 6, 1055, in Bighorn County, Wyoming. He worked for Ryniker's Steel Products, and later, Cenex for 25 years, retiring in 1998. He created his own furnace and cooling business, Ungefug's Heating. He loved gadgets of all kinds, often crafting items on his own. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church. His strong faith, wonderfully sharp wit, and sense of humor carried him throughout his long life. He loved his family and friends. His door was open to everyone, and he was known as someone who could never refuse help to anyone who asked. Elden was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Gery, and his siblings; Harry, Leroy (aka Boots), Carole, and Danny.

Elden is survived by his sister Linda (Gary) Frank, his two sons; Barry, his wife, Roberta (Lange) of Bilings, Montana, and grandchildren, Jedidiah (Millie), Nicole (James), great grandson Rian (Shelby and Vayda) Randy, his wife Mary (Stanley), of Arroyo Grande, California, as well as his three grandchildren, Christina, Nicholas, and Kati (Ungefug) and her husband Robert Simonton, respectively. There will be a graveside service and celebration of life at the family home in Laurel, on July 11 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Hospice, 502 N 30th St. Suite 1, Billings, MT 59101.
