Donald Walter Kuester, born July 3, 1942 in Menomonie, WI to Walter and Minnie (Marunda) Kuester, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 7, surrounded by family at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.
Donald was a lifelong dedicated member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie, having served for the church cemetery board where he will be buried.
Donald was a farmer, landscaper, caretaker, and a master gardener. He never missed a family gathering, where he was the family historian, and in many cases the practical joker.
Donald made friends wherever he went and could talk to anyone like they had known each other for years.
He is survived by his nephew, Steve (Mary) Shafer; two nieces, Bonnie (Dan) Seichter and Kim (Don) Sabby; nephew-in-law, Doug (Joan) Kado. He is further survived by great-nephews and nieces Chad Kado, Tammy (Scott) Wright, Niki (Mike) Bignell, Burke (Jamie) Shafer, Kyle Shafer, Stephanie (Randy) Martinek, Jeremy (Ly) Seichter, Eric (Tracy) Shafer, Caitlin (Elliot) Savoie, Tyler (Brittany) Sabby, Maranda (Tyler) Nelson; many great-great-grand nieces and nephews; and his best friends, Ron and Pat Rodey.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Minnie Kuester; sister, Jane Shafer; brother-in-law, Jerry (Archie) Shafer; niece, Donna Kado; and many aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank Mayo Hospice and the many caregivers at Chippewa Manor for their very kind and considerate care the last few weeks of Donald's life.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 13 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI with Pastor Geoffrey Kieta officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Menomonie, WI followed by a light luncheon at the church.
