James C. Livermore
December 1, 1937 - July 20, 2025
James "Jim" C. Livermore, age 87, of Augusta, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 20, 2025, at Dove Healthcare Center in Osseo, WI.
Jim was born December 1, 1937, in Augusta, the son of Roy and Cora (Eaton) Livermore. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's Catholic Church and graduated from Augusta High School with the Class of 1955. During his junior year in high school his baseball team made it to the state championship game. He went on to earn his degree from the Platteville School of Engineering and Mining in 1962.
While attending college, Jim married the love of his life, Marlys Dehnke, on April 12, 1959, in Platteville. Following his graduation, they moved to San Bernardino, California, where Jim began his career as a civil engineer with the California Highway and Interstate Program. In 1966, they relocated to Grand Island, Nebraska, where Jim worked for Wilson Concrete as plant manager and eventually becoming President of the company.
In 2007, Jim and Marlys returned to Wisconsin to retire at their home on Lake Eau Claire-a place they truly cherished. While back in Augusta they were members of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Fall Creek.
Jim lived life with energy, curiosity, and a passion for adventure. He and Marlys loved traveling, first with their son Dale and later with friends. They especially enjoyed the cycle trips with their friends throughout the Midwest, across the western states, and even into Canada. Over the years, they created countless memories on the road-sometimes even waking up to find their bikes dusted with snow. Jim was also an avid Corvette enthusiast, a licensed pilot (mainly to make his trips back to Augusta quicker), and enjoyed scuba diving. Whether it was racing down the highway or cheering on his favorite sports teams-the Green Bay Packers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Wisconsin Badgers, or at NASCAR and Indy 500 tracks across the country-Jim embraced life with enthusiasm and a bold spirit.
Jim's love for family was at the center of everything. He celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage with Marlys who survives him. He is further survived by his son, Dale (Dawn) Livermore of Fall Creek; granddaughters Arianne (Mark Alfred) Livermore Alfred of Belmont, NC, and Alaina (Thomas) Madison of Fall Creek; 7 great-grandchildren Damien, Jayden, and Sienna Alfred, Adelyn, Broderick, Brynlee and Elliott Madison; sister Jennifer Bethke of Augusta; and nieces and nephews Jackie, Jerry, Tom (Julie), Jim (Kris) and Joe Polder.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Cora; infant great-grandson Brayden James Alfred; sister Annabelle Polder; brother-in-law Victor Bethke; nephews, Jason Bethke and David Polder; and his father and mother in-law, August and Adelia Dehnke.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Fall Creek, with burial to follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Jim will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, spirited traveler, and a man who lived life to its fullest. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Mayo hospital and clinics at Eau Claire and Osseo as well as Dove Healthcare in Osseo for the wonderful care given to Jim at the end of his life.
