James Champagne Obituary

James Frank Champagne

Bennington NH - James Frank Champagne, 89, of Bennington, NH, passed peacefully after a brief decline of health surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Pheasant Wood Center in Peterborough.

He was born a son to the late Charles J. Champagne and Myra (Cole) on August 24, 1935 in Chazy, NY. He attended school in Francestown and Peterborough, graduating in 1953. After school he joined the United States Army from 1955-1956.

James was very involved in his community. He served on the Bennington Fire Department for 25 years and the Bennington Police Department for 8 years. He had also worked at Monadnock Paper Mills for three years. He went on to start his own landscaping business.

James is survived by his children, Jay Champagne of Antrim, Scott Champagne of Antrim and Tracy Champagne of Antrim, his grandchildren, Jennifer Champagne of Antrim, Erin Champagne of Antrim and Hayley Champagne of Keene. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Mitchell, Michael Mitchell and Emily Mitchell as well as his sister Beverly Belmore of Greenfield, NH. He is predeceased by his wife Nancy and his siblings William Champagne, Charles Champagne and Elizabeth Foote.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 2:00pm in #3 Cemetery, Francestown. Services are under the care of Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Services. www.holtwoodburyfh.com.
