Barry Smith Obituary
July 1, 1958 - January 22, 2025
Barry Allen Smith, 66, of West Haven, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2025, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side after a long battle with illness.
Born on July 1, 1958, in Trenton, New Jersey, to Harry Jacob Smith and Gladys Foreman Pierson, Barry attended Trenton High School before relocating to Connecticut. Throughout his life, he worked diligently in various roles as a warehouse worker and forklift operator.
Barry was preceded in death by his beloved son Eric; his parents; his brother Eric Smith; his sister Dawn Marshock; and his brother-in-law and best friend, Gregory Linsley. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Trish and Eric Bocchino; his sister Holly Linsley; his brother-in-law Daniel Marshock; his niece Diane Marshock; and nephews Tony Carlisi, DJ Marshock, and Eric Marshock (Madi). Barry also leaves behind two great-nephews, with two more on the way.
In his leisure time, Barry found joy in crafting beautiful wooden creations and fishing at his favorite spots. He cherished sunny days spent outdoors with a cold beer in hand, soaking up the warmth. A devoted NASCAR fan, Barry never missed a race and was an enthusiastic supporter of Jeff Gordon. Before a car accident in 1997, he often frequented the Waterford Speedbowl as both a spectator and participant in races.
A public memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Barry's life.

You raised an extraordinary daughter. And, for that, I thank you. Knowing what it´s like to be a Daddy´s girl and losing him, I know all too well the sadness surrounding her now. I´m so glad you were able to be at her wedding (in my not so formal back yard). Rest in peace
