Florence Wilson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 1, 2025.
Florence Agnes Wilson (née McMahon), born on September 26, 1937, in Lansing, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, in Glendale, Arizona. She was 87 years old.

Florence earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Her commitment to the welfare of children guided her career as a social worker in Children's Services. For over twenty years, she served with dedication at Hamilton and Clermont County Children's Services, retiring in 1997.

She married the love of her life, Guy Wilson, on April 1, 1966. They always joked that only two fools in love would get married on April Fool's Day. Together, they enjoyed most of their years living in Cincinnati. They also lived briefly in both Arizona and Florida; however, they always returned to the Greater Cincinnati Area.

She took a break from her career to raise their daughter, Paula. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid reader. She spent her time working in the school library and volunteered as the seamstress for her daughter's synchronized swimming team. She also enjoyed many years attending Clough United Methodist Church, where she had many friends. She returned to her career once her daughter entered high school. Furthermore, Florence was actively involved in her family's genealogy, reflecting her lifelong passion for the history of her lineage and maintaining her family's bonds. After her husband passed away, she moved to Arizona and enjoyed being able to spend her final years with her sister, Mary.

She is survived by her daughter Paula (James) Copley; grandchildren Branden (Liz) Jones, Randall (Haleigh) Williams, Dakota and Austin Smith, Colton and Savanna Copley; great-grandchildren Sunny and Guy; sisters Mary (Frank) Cook and Sharon Agapos; brother Robert (Danita) McMahon.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Wilson; her parents, John and Agnes McMahon; her sister, Catherine McMahon; and her brother, Patrick McMahon.

Following her wishes, no funeral service will be held. She chose to be cremated, and her ashes will be lovingly combined with those of her late husband, Guy, to be laid to rest together at a later date. Once the family receives her ashes, arrangements will be made for a small gathering to say goodbye.
