George Robert (Bob) Laakso of Port St. John, Fl, passed away on December 5, 2024 at 83 years old after several years battle with multiple cancers.

Married to Beverly Irene Buckley on November 1, 1963. They lived in Hunstville until 1980 and then moved to Florida.

His career began as a space rocket model engineer at Hayes International , Redstone Aresenal in Huntsville, Alabama. In Florida he worked for Presentation South as a project manager. He retired at the age of 62.

Robert (Bob) is survived by his twin daughters Catherine Anne Laakso Anderson (John) and Elizabeth Anne Laakso Varney (Dwight), Son Terence William Laakso (Cyndi), Brothers James Laakso and Jeremy Laakso, and Uncle John Laakso.

He leaves behind eight grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife Beverly (who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last November) and his parents Robert and Catherine.

Bob along with his wife enjoyed many years sailing on their boats called the "Miss Bev" and "Moon Shadow". They traded their boat for a "land yacht" and enjoyed glamping for many years. Bob and Bev were cruising enthusiasts. They went on a total of 60 cruises mostly on their favorite cruise line Royal Caribbean.

Bob loved to build things. Among these were a shed and a gazebo for their house. Bob had an engineer mind. He was very particular and precise. He was very organized and everything had a place.

Back in the day he enjoyed playing his guitar. In his later years he enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer. He also enjoyed watching Fox News.

Bob's favorite song was "I will always love you" by Dolly Parton. One of his favorite artists was Gordon Lightfoot.

"Those who touch our lives, stay in our hearts forever. The love in our family flows strong and deep, leaving us memories to treasure and keep. We loved you for your whole life and we will remember you for the rest of ours. Death leaves a heartache nothing can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal."
