Gerald Lee Brunton, age 78, former Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. He was born in Ravenna, Ohio, on April 29, 1946 to the late James Benson and Gladys Effie Brunton of Ravenna.
After high school, Gerald enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served from 1965-1971 where he was involved with the Vietnam Conflict. He earned many decorations and commendations during his time of service; Rifle: Expert, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
Gerald worked as a CNC Drill Operator at Rotek for many years before his retirement.
Gerald is survived by his children, Laura (John) Holman and Andrew Brunton; grandchildren, Jordan (Sabrina), Amber, Brittany, Christian and Cortney Brunton; great-grandchildren, Cordelia, William, Aubrey, Kane and Maddison; brothers, Robert (Emma), Larry (Beverly) and Carl (Brenda) Brunton; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Roberta Cheryl Brunton who passed on November 12, 2023; one son, Chris Brunton; and brothers, James and Rodger Brunton.
Cremation has taken place and the family is planning a Remembrance for Sunday, December 15, 2024 at First Christian Church of Kent (335 W. Main Street, Kent, OH 44240) from 1pm until 5pm. Following the gathering, family and friends are welcome to stay for a time of food and fellowship.
