James Gardner Coldren, Sr., 87, passed away on August 7, 2025. Born June 27, 1938, to the late Leland and Agnes (Stewart) Coldren.
A 1956 graduate of Uniontown High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958 and served four years in Germany, where he trained as a nuclear weapons technician.
Prior to his retirement in 1991, James worked as a cable splicing foreman for Bell of PA/Verizon. He was a member of the Hill Top Club in Greensburg and the Connellsville American Legion Post 301.
James is survived by his three sons: James Jr., and his children, Alex and Cara; Bruce (Chris) and their children, Lee and Stephanie; and Robert (Darla) and their daughters, Brittany and Kelsey. He is also survived by his loving partner of 50 years, Ann Hails, and her children: Donald (Sharyn) and their children, Donnie, Zach, and Cortney; and Jodi Yaklich and her children, Tami and Josh. He leaves behind many great-grandchildren; brothers, Leland (Janet) and Gary (Maureen); and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Amanda, Lori, Jackie, and all at Westmoreland Hospice for their excellent care.
Family and friends will be received from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m., officiated by his nephew Gary David Coldren, on Monday, August 11, at Hoffer Wilt Funeral Home, 2245 Mount Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, PA 15674.
