Janet Hebert Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 14, 2026.
Cheboygan - Janet M. Hebert, age 83 of Cheboygan, Michigan died on January 13th, 2026 at home surrounded by family. Janet was born April 2nd, 1942 to Leo Mollen and Blanche Love in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and grew up in Cheboygan. On October 26th, 1963, she married Gerald (Joe) Hebert, and shared 62 years together.

Janet is survived by her husband Gerald (Joe) Hebert, her children Joe (Carol) Hebert and Rachel (Matthew) Colwitz, her granddaughter Taylor and her step grandchildren Timothy and Abigail as well as remaining siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Janet was an avid quilter, loved to oil paint, was a voracious reader, enjoyed time on the golf course with her husband, had a passion for gardening and had many beautiful flower gardens to show for it, she loved to bake homemade bread and could fix any childhood injury presented to her, no matter the prognosis.

In her lifetime, she wore many hats, from girl scout leader to occasional remodeling as well as loving mother and grandmother. Janet always kept her house stocked with odds and ends for her loved ones, lovingly referred to as 'mom-mart'. She was strong willed and would give the shirt off her back.

She had a 40 year long medical career, beginning in Petoskey and later working in Cheboygan Hospital as a nurse aide. She also spent time as a respiratory therapist followed by 30 years working for Dr. Baltzer as his nurse. She transferred to Green Bay, Wisconsin and was a nursing supervisor for 10 years before retiring and moving back to Cheboygan.

Janet will be greatly missed by loved ones and friends alike. There are no services at this time per her request.
