Martha Ramos Rothman Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Martha Ramos Rothman on July 9, 2025. Martha was born on December 8, 1949, in Manizales, Colombia. She came to the United States in 1985 on vacation and ended up making it her permanent home. She was a longtime resident of White Plains, NY.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Michael Rothman; her mother, Magola Marin; her father, Gerardo Ramos; and her sisters, Tere and Aleida Ramos.

Martha spent her career as a Spanish teacher and found great joy in sharing her native language with others. She was a devout Catholic who could often be found praying at home or attending daily Mass.

She is survived by her daughter, Juliana (John) Bongiorno; her son, Devon (Lauren) Rothman; and her cherished granddaughters, Vivian Rothman and Gabriella Bongiorno. She also leaves behind her adored granddogs, Chaz and Maggie. Martha loved being an Abuela and found immense joy in her grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Gonzalo, Carlos, Gerardo (Maria Teresa), and Guillermo (Doribelle), along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT, followed by interment in the mausoleum at St. John Cemetery in Darien, CT.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Brighton Gardens in Stamford, CT, and Caring Hospice for their compassionate care during Martha's final months.
