Shelby “Bud” Cook Jr, 84, passed away on October 8, 2022, in Waukee, Iowa. He was a lifelong resident of West Valley City, Utah. Bud Cook was born on January 3, 1938, in Payson, Utah, to Shelby Cook Sr. and Viola Fairbanks.
Bud graduated from Granite High School in 1956 and went on to earn an Electricians certificate. He started his career as an Electrician and went on to work for Hercules and several other companies in the Salt Lake City area.
Bud married Alice Marie Hall on April 11, 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The couple had 6 children, Shelli Buckner, Leanne Budd, Kathleen Orr, Darrin Cook, Curtis Cook, Kevin Cook.
Bud was best known for his love of water including boating, skiing and swimming. He spent as much time as he could camping with his family and traveling in his RV with Alice.
One of his greatest joys came from his love for his beloved wife Alice and he missed her greatly since her passing on April 4th of this year.
Bud also served in the US Navy from 1956-1960.
Bud is survived by his children and their spouses; Shelli and Ken Buckner, Leanne and Steve Budd, Kathleen and David Orr, Darrin Cook and Lorri Trujillo Cook, Curtis and April Cook, Kevin and Catherine Cook; brothers and sisters Don and Connie Cook, Richard and Nancy Cook and Voneen Hyatt. He also had 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Bud is preceded in death by his wife Alice Cook; and his first child Mary Jean; his brothers Calvin Cook and Arlen Cook; his parents Shelby Cook Sr. and Viola Fairbanks; grandson Daniel Buckner and great-grandson Luka Cook.
The service for Shelby "Bud" Cook Jr will be held on October 14, 2022, at 11:00 am at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
A visitation will be held prior to services on October 14, 2022, from 9:00 am to 10:45 am at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
Interment will be at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, Bluffdale Utah, Monday, October 17, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.

Mr and Ms Cook were good neighbors to me and my family from the day we moved in. They were fun and kind people. I still look at their backyard and think of them. It will always be the "Cook's" home to me.
