Florence Cannon Obituary
With love in our hearts and a touch of her trademark spark, we honor the unforgettable Florence Renee Cannon, known affectionately as "Renee". Born on June 12, 1961, to Annie Reed and Howard Jones, she brought love, laughter, and an unmistakable presence to everyone who knew her. She passed away gracefully on May 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, honesty, and humor.
Renee had the special honor of being the baby of nine children, cherished by her eight loving brothers and sisters: Deitra Crowell, Ralph Reed (Ruth), Darryl Reed (Cindy), Howard Reed (Brenda), Michael Reed, Marie Campbell, Linda Crawford, and Alberta Greene (Bobby). She was a proud graduate of Taft High School class of 1979 and was raised in the church, where her faith became a cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of Memorial Baptist Church, she worshipped alongside family and found strength in her community.
Renee dedicated her early adult years to being a stay-at-home mother, ensuring her children had a solid foundation before she stepped into the workforce. Later in life, she spent many years caring for children as a daycare worker, and at Petermann Bus Company, she tenderly looked after special needs students with the same compassion that defined her life. She built a beautiful life alongside her husband, William Cannon Jr, whom she married on October 11, 1980. Together, they raised six children-Merci Cannon, Tia Cannon, Nitisha Walker (Dante), William Cannon III (CJ), Jorde Harris, and Jordan Harris-instilling in them love, laughter, and a fair share of playful teasing. She also adored her 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Her laugh was legendary-loud enough to shake the windows and contagious enough to fill a room. Never one to mince words, she had a knack for calling things exactly as she saw them, especially when critiquing a questionable dish with her famous phrase: 'This nasty.' Her honesty was unmatched, her love unwavering, and her ability to turn any moment into a celebration truly remarkable. Renee was impossible to miss, not just for her vibrant personality, but also for her long, extravagant nails, which were as bold and beautiful as she was. They became part of her signature look, a reflection of her flair, confidence, and unapologetic sense of style.
Though she may be gone from our sight, her laughter still echoes, her love endures, and her spirit lives on in the memories she created. Heaven's potlucks better be ready-because if something up there isn't up to her standards, trust us, they'll hear about it.
