Thomas Wegleitner Obituary

Lonsdale - Thomas Duane (Lynch) Wegleitner, age 42, of Lonsdale, died tragically on Saturday, June 21, 2025, as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Nebraska, while returning from his daughter's pageant. The actions he took to avoid the oncoming vehicle saved his family's life.

Tom was born on March 28, 1983, in Minneapolis, to Vicki Bartone. He was raised by his parents, Duane & Vicki, in Burnsville, MN. Tom graduated from Burnsville High School and went on to earn an associate degree from South Central College. He met a beautiful young woman "on the job" and it became the stuff of legends: they met, fell in love, and were engaged in 3 months and married a year later on the beach in Key West, Florida, on May 28, 2006!

Tom was proud of his job, working as a Senior Locate Technician for Lake Superior Consulting, where he covered the southern portion of Minnesota, putting in long hours. He carried some of that ethic into his home, where he was very protective of the people that he loved. He went out of his way to be helpful and didn't hesitate to offer assistance, even to strangers. The car accident that took his life was not the first time he had stepped in as a hero. Years ago, he witnessed an accident, stopped, and rendered assistance until the ambulance arrived and was told the victim would most certainly have died had he not been there. When you met Tom, you became his friend, with his warm, easy personality and his ability to connect with others. Everyone thought the world of him.

He loved video games and enjoyed recreational sports, especially football, softball, bowling, and mini-golf. He was one of the Minnesota Vikings greatest fans! An outdoorsman, he loved camping and hiking with friends and family. His greatest title, however, was that of "pageant dad", supporting both of his daughters in their pageant activities and being their greatest cheerleaders. His footprint was huge and the hole left by his legacy of care for those he loved, deep.

Tom is survived by his wife, Nicole, and daughters, Rachel and Monica of Lonsdale; parents, Duane & Vicki Bartone; parents-in-law, Denny & Mardi Wegleitner; siblings, Mark (Kali), Albert (Jen), Steven (BriAnna), Corinna (Miso), Justin, Tanya.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 25, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague with Reverend Dr. Joy Bussert officiating. Visitation will take place from 4-5 PM at church. Lunch will follow the service in the church social hall.

The family would like to request that Tom's co-workers who attend wear their bright construction yellow vests or other yellow attire.
