Colleen Zaverl Obituary
Colleen was born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Michael "Mickey" Quinn and Eleanor Pope Quinn Wilkins. She was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale, class of 1969. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant before she became a devoted mother for 33 years.
She was a loving and caring person who enjoyed her family and her faithful companions, Shadow and Cody, above all else. Colleen was part of a big, loving Irish family that made her extremely proud. Her heritage and faith gave her strength. She was a devoted believer in St. Jude and gave often to the St. Jude Children's Charity.
Also surviving are two sons, Eric and wife, Sara Dzwonchyk Zaverl, Charlotte, NC; and Aaron Zaverl and companion, Anne Spyhalsky, Forest City; a granddaughter, Makayla Zaverl, who was the love of her life; sisters, Elaine Bruno, Sister Mariette Quinn, I.H.M.; three brothers, Frank Quinn and his wife, Ronnie; Larry Quinn and his wife, Barbara; and sister-in-law, Frances Quinn, all of Carbondale; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Joseph Quinn, in 2010.
The funeral will be Monday from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. As per her request, cremation will follow.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org.

Although we have not seen you in many years, Gene, we are sad to hear of the passing of your wife, Colleen. We were all so close in our small Fell High School that each time we hear news of a friend we knew, it brings back many memories. We pray that your family will remember all of the good memories of Colleen and that God will give you peace as you pass through this difficult time. God bless. I am filled with memories of Colleen and I as children living in the apartments on Main Street. It was a good time. Of course, we went on to school together and as most childhood friends lost touch but not memory. I was glad to have seen her at our 40 class reunion. My prayers are with you all.
