April 11, 1933 - July 13, 2025
Rae Skinner, age 92, of Madison, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Bethel Luthera Home in Madison.
Memorial service will be 2 PM on Monday, July 21st at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel with visitation starting one hour prior to the service. A private family inurnment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery at a later date. Online guestbook is at www.rustandweilandfuneral.com. Arrangements are entrusted with Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel of Madison.
Barbara Rae Skinner was born April 11, 1933 in Rolla, ND, to John & Martha (Lindbo) Drewry. She graduated from Rolla High School and attended Nurses School in St. Paul, MN. She married Charles Skinner in August of 1954 shortly after they moved to Madison in 1955. They purchased the Hotel Park on main street in Madison and worked alongside her husband and ran the restaurant, bar and hotel until they sold it. They went on to build Nicky's Restaurant, The Movie Theater and Cherry Lanes bowling alley. They sold their businesses and retired to Brainerd, Minnesota.
Rae enjoyed cooking for others, traveling and enjoyed "lake living." Chuck passed in 2002, Rae continued to live in Brainerd until 2017, which is when she moved back to Madison to be closer to family.
Rae is survived by her son, Drew (Carol) Skinner and their three daughters, Sandra (Alex) Johnson, Sarah (Chris) Kinney and Shelby (Spencer) Leighton; son, Joel (Pam) Skinner and their two children, Patrick (Heidi) Skinner and Molly Skinner; Daughter-in-law, Jenny Skinner and her two daughters, Kelly (Anthony) Skaalerud and Rachel Skinner; sister, Linda (Jim) Amman and their children and many relatives in St. Paul, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Jeff and her parents.
