Antonio Agostinelli Obituary

Antonio Agostinelli, 79, of Youngstown, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025. Known affectionately as "Tony" to family and friends, he was born on June 4, 1946, in Pacentro, Province of L'Aquila, Italy, a son of the late Carlo and Anna (Battaglini) Agostinelli. Tony attended school in Italy before immigrating to the United States, where he graduated from Struthers High School in 1967. Following graduation, he honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, working as a radio transmitter. He began his career at Calex Corporation and later joined General Motors in Lordstown, where he worked in the fabricating department until his retirement. A skilled handyman and natural problem solver, Tony was never happier than when he had a tool in his hand and a task to complete. Tony found great joy in gardening, playing cards with friends, and sharing time with those he loved. His quiet generosity, strong work ethic, and kind heart touched many. He was a member of the Pacentrano Club and Sons of Italy for many years. He is survived by his two sisters, Virginia Nepi of Pacentro, Italy, and Gemma Catalano of Poland, OH; his sister-in-law, Angela Agostinelli of Canfield, OH; nieces and nephews Anna Maria (Renzo) Rossi of Sulmona, Italy, Susanne Agostinelli of Poland, OH, Adreann (Tim) Loxton of Mooresville, NC, Cesare Nepi of Pacentro, Italy and Carlo Agostinelli of Columbus, OH, and Frank (Franchessca) Catalano of Poland, OH. In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brother, Luigi Agostinelli; and brothers-in-law, Iginio Nepi and Frank Catalano. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish - St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive in Boardman. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. G. David Weikart. Interment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 6144, Youngstown, OH 44501, in Tony's memory. Arrangements are entrusted to Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street in Poland. To share memories and offer condolences, please visit www.beckerobits.com.
