John Katchmer, 97 of Girard passed away Sunday evening, October 6, 2024. John was born July 10, 1927 in Niles, a son of the late Peter and Katie (Sencisak) Katchmer and was a lifelong area resident.
John was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany during World War II. He was a self-employed Master Carpenter working in both residential and commercial areas. He was a member of the Local Carpenters Union # 171.
John enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and cheering for the Cleveland Guardians.
He leaves his wife of over 69 years, the former Grace Gelston, whom he married June 18, 1955; two daughters, Debbie (Bryon) Frederick of Vienna, Diane (John Gantz) DeJacimo of Girard; two grandsons, Anthony (Kayla Damelio) DeJacimo, Andrew (Audrey Shemunovich) DeJacimo and one great granddaughter, Giavonna DeJacimo.
Private family services have been held.
