Walter Brown Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - Walter G. "Butch" Brown, Jr., 63, of Youngstown, passed away peacefully early Friday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center Main Campus, with his loving Aunt Carol by his side. Butch was born Tuesday, August 15, 1961, in Youngstown, a son of Walter G. Brown, Sr. and Loretta Galardi Brown and lovingly raised by his grandparents, Grant Brown and Edith (Gram) Prange Brown. A 1979 graduate of Hubbard High School, he went on to earn his bachelor's in fine arts from Youngstown State University and master's degree in fine arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Butch lived a vibrant and creative life. He worked as a delivery driver for Confederate Warehouse, bartender at the Royal Oaks, served as a disc jockey for over 15 years with Golden String Radio, and drove a bus for the Purple Cat. A gifted artist and photographer, Butch also had a deep appreciation for cars and was known for his creativity and keen eye for detail. A dedicated fan of both Ohio State and Youngstown State football, Butch enjoyed cheering on his teams and sharing that passion with others. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted Aunt Carol Rella of Youngstown, and his cousin, Linda (Robert) Raye of Corpus Christi, Texas. Butch was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends may call Friday, August 15, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at McCauley Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. celebrated by Reverend Pastor T. Dawson.
