SHIRLEY D. STRAIGHT Shirley D. Straight, age 79, passed away on Nov. 4, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS. She was born on Nov. 12, 1944 at Colorado Springs, CO., the daughter of Harold F. and Hyland O. (Hock) Sleichter. Shirley was a retired Secretary and Office Manager. She volunteered countless hours at Pratt Regional Medical Center from 2003-2014. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Anne Straight, Pratt, KS., June Elizabeth (Duane) Miller, Belpre, KS; two sons, Eddie Jay (MaryAnn) Straight, Colorado Springs, CO., Jerry Alan (Stacey) Straight, Lothian, MD; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores Morrell and Dorothy Peterson. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, Nov. 11, 2024 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, KS., with Pastor Stanley Palmer presiding. Burial will be 3:00 PM, Mountain Time on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 at the Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, CO. Memorials may be given to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church-Kinsley, KS., in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.

I grew up down the street from the Straight family, Judy was my friend and Jerry was my brothers friend, Ms. Straight was always kind to me. My parents were divorced and my mom worked so Ms. Straight would invite my brother and I to have a ride to school with her on the cold snowy days. I was always grateful that she did that. She was a kind lady. Hope the Straight children are well and hello to my old friend Judy.
