Sandra (Tamminen) Giltz

Born and raised in Cherry, Minnesota, Sandy carried the warmth, music and gentle humor of her family wherever she went. She attended Suomi College in Hancock, MI where she met her beloved Harry. Together, they built a life in Canton, OH, filled with adventure, including sailing Lake Erie most weekends with three kids and a dog. A talented singer, Sandy's voice graced the Canton Civic Opera (now Voci) for over five decades. Later, Sandy worked as a bookkeeper for Giltz and Associates and enjoyed being a grandmother. She made it a point to attend as many tennis matches, lacrosse games, ballets, and voice recitals as she could. Throughout her journey, she always had what the Finns call "sisu," her inner strength and grace.

On July 7, Sandy died peacefully at home, leaving behind her husband Harry, her sister Lois (Tom) Long, her children Alaina, Harry (Amy), and Grant (Pam) Giltz, and grandchildren Kendal, Carter, Ella, Kaitlyn, and Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents, Einar and Bertha Tamminen, and brother Howard.

A celebration of life will be held at St Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church in Canton, OH at 11 a.m. on July 26, 2025.
