Gertrude De Rosa Obituary

Gertrude "Trudy" Elise De Rosa, loving mother of five, was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Keokuk, Iowa, and passed July 10, 2025, at the age of 93 at the home of her daughter Karen and son-in-law Gary in Aloha, Oregon.

Trudy was an exceptional and strong woman. One of Trudy's greatest strengths was her patience and easy-going approach to life. She was patient with everyone – her children, her husband, everyone she met, and with life's daily annoyances. She accepted the challenges that life presented her with grace. When she was diagnosed with macular degeneration, she adapted without feeling sorry for herself. She strove to do her best in all things and taught her children to do the same, simply by example. One of the other things that made her exceptional is that unlike most people, she became more open minded and less judgmental as she aged. She would often say "Everybody is different and that's okay."

Trudy is survived by two siblings, Carole Laffey and Clayton Vermillion; her five children (and their spouses): Steven Michael De Rosa, Gregory Gene De Rosa (Michael Westberg), Karen Elise Anderson (Gary Anderson), David Vincent De Rosa (Cindy De Rosa), and Jane Marie De Rosa (Gabor Szoboszlay); and her six grandchildren: Steve's children, Lucas and Ana, David's children, Morgan and Dayle, and Jane's children, Eva Elise and Janos; and finally, her two great-daughters, Carissa and Maya.

If I remember correctly Gertrude was in My yearbook as Gertrude Vermillion and her grandparents ran a small grocery store on North 3rd in keokuk, Ia.
Sam vermillion was the owner and they lived on concert street half way between 2nd and 3rd on east side of concert!
My wife Pat and I send condolences to Gertrude's family!
