Ardyce Jean Boraas was born on July 20, 1932, in Dawson to Raymond and Mable (Larson) Boraas. She was baptized and confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. Ardyce attended District 7 country school through the 8th grade and went on to graduate from Dawson High School in 1950. Following high school, Ardyce worked two years at a canning factory in Montevideo.
On April 11, 1953, Ardyce married the love of her life Thorlen Berg at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. Together they had two children, Carol and Deborah. They made their home on the farm where Ardyce cared for the house and yard and helped with farm work.
Ardyce was an active member of Our Saviour's Church Lutheran of Baxter. She was treasurer of the Sunday school for many years. She was in Bible Study and Circle at Baxter and was known for always bringing a cake or other dish for church events. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a lot of laughter with her family and friends. Ardyce and her husband loved to camp, going several times a year with good friends and their families. They were members of Heritage Hill for many years and enjoyed the annual threshing shows. Thor and Ardyce loved most of all to spend time with their daughters and grandkids and attended as many of their school and sporting events as possible.
