Patrick G. Prignano
Born: August 16, 1973
Died: March 24, 2025
Patrick G. Prignano
Age 51, of Morris, Illinois and formerly Melrose Park, Illinois, had the last laugh on his work family when he passed away at his own home on March 24th, 2025, surrounded by his heart-broken wife, worshipping children, and the pets he swore he didn't want – but somehow kept adopting anyway.
Patrick was born August 16, 1973; the favorite baby boy of Loretta (Dooling) and Edward Prignano. He was raised in Melrose Park where he attended Sacred Heart grade school, prior to graduating from Fenwick High School in 1991. Fortunately, he realized early on that he despised technology and a desk job. He proceeded to receive a Mortuary Science degree from Worsham College.
Patrick spent 5 years working on being promoted from a prom date to husband of the most amazing woman on the planet, Dawn Michelle. Patrick and Dawn were one of numerous love stories penned by the walls of Westlake Community Hospital in Melrose Park. Together for 29 years, they rarely spent a night apart during their 23 years of wedded bliss. This is an exceptional feat considering Patrick always agreed Dawn was, is, and will remain 35. As a proud father, he made it his life's mission to devote every spare moment spoiling their Magna Opera; Isabella Mary Rose, Dominic Joseph, and Angelina Teresa. Also surviving are his siblings: Michael; Richard (Dawn Marie); Thomas; Donald (Liz); Edward (Chris); and Mary (Michael); as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Patrick secretly stalked them all on Facebook. Rarely leaving a comment unless to start a debate, he was extremely proud watching their paths unfold and their families grow.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph (Awilda) Prignano; and sisters-in-law, Susan Prignano, and Joyce Prignano.
Patrick, a dedicated funeral director at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Homes, served and cared for numerous families in the Will and Grundy communities for well over two decades. He considered it a deep privilege to support families as they navigated the tumultuous transition of life without their loved ones.
When he was younger, Patrick was a fan of most Chicago sports teams, although lately, he would suggest (in his dry way), there's not been much to cheer about. He was usually mad at the entire organization, which is why he enjoyed the Joliet Slammers and took great joy in watching all his children's extracurricular activities. He enjoyed movies, books, and strategy board games. He and Dawn most recently spent their time seeing live music from bands they bonded over while dating. As they raised their family, his free time was spent with his children, encouraging their interests and preparing them for their lives. As he watched his children become adults, he remained a reliable source of support, comfort, and cultivating deep roots while allowing them room to spread their wings. He was more than a father – he was a friend, champion, superhero and their biggest fan. He will be remembered, above all, as a sainted husband and noble father.
Services for Patrick will be Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris, where all friends and relatives are invited to gather from 5:00 p.m. until a Memorial Service begins at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you perform a random act of kindness in Patrick's memory.
