Glenda Stanley Shropshire, age 77, of Siloam, went to be with her Lord and Savior early on Friday morning Sept. 6, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born July 1, 1947, in Surry County. Mrs. Shropshire and her late husband, Ron, were the owners of Ron's Used Cars for over 50 years. Their customers became family. Their motto was, "Once a customer, always a customer." Mrs. Shropshire obtained her dealers license in 1967 and had just retired on Aug. 31. She was a loving and strong Christian woman who loved her family and was the rock of the family. Mrs. Shropshire is survived by her daughters, Kristi Shropshire, and Kimberley and Mitchell Wright; five grandsons whom she adored, Hayden and Morgan Hall, Griffin Hall, Toliver and Whitney Wright, Tullie and Autumn Wright, and Gavin and Hannah Wright; four great-grandchildren, Grayson Hall, Owen Wright, Stetson Wright, Haddie Hall, and Baby Wright due in December; a sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Stan Wilson; nephew, Nick Wilson; aunt and uncle, Monroe and Louise Bowman; special friends, Donald and Shirley Jennings; and several other family and friends. Mrs. Shropshire was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ronald Clay Shropshire; and her parents, A. C. and Louise Bowman May. A service of worship and celebration will be held on Thursday Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. at New Home Church of Christ with Pastor Tim Smith officiating. The family will receive friends in the church on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 1 - 2 p.m. The family would like to thank the Surry County Emergency Medical Services and first responders for all of the hard work and compassion shown during Glenda's time of need. Also, they would like to thank the staff at Forsyth Medical Center for all of their help.
