Gary Wayne Carter
Alexander - Gary Wayne Carter, 75, of Alexander, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024, at his residence. He was born on December 4, 1948 in Jacksonville IL, the son of Earl Wayne and Junette Winifred Bahr Carter. He married Patricia Critchelow on April 22, 1972, and she survives.
In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by his mother: Junette "Winnie"; son: Casey (Sarah) Carter, of Franklin; daughter: Bree (Steven) Trout, of Franklin; grandchildren: Abigale, Zachary, Isaac, Jacob, Brianna; great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Amiyah, and Averyana; brother Bruce (Sara) Carter; brother Terry Carter; sister Deanna (Dean) Geer and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father: Earl Wayne Carter.
Gary graduated from Franklin High School in 1967, then attended SIU Carbondale, where he earned a bachelor's degree in photography. He worked for Memorial Medical Center from 1973- 2014, where he was the Chief Medical Photographer. Gary was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, golf and St. Louis Cardinal's baseball. He also enjoyed Texas Hold 'em, woodworking, and was a member of First Christian Church.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Williamson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, in New Berlin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church Building Fund or the Springfield Memorial Foundation Cancer Patient Assistance.
