Albert Wachel Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Barney Wachel, a greatly loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Albert passed peacefully into eternal life at the age of 91 on May 5, 2025, in Katy, Texas.
Born on December 20, 1933, in Bremond, Texas, Al was known for his love of gardening and generosity to friends and neighbors with all it produced. He could change a barren piece of land into a lush paradise and bring a seemingly dead plant back to life. Al loved fishing, telling fishing stories, feeding the birds and squirrels, playing bingo, and listening to polka music with his wife and friends. He helped as he could with the St. Mary's Grotto Celebration and other organizations and enjoyed cooking BBQ for family get-togethers.
Favorite memories were our many trips to fish at Matagorda Bay with just our family or with Dad's brothers and their families. We'd all be severely sunburned since sunscreen wasn't an option and hungry because lunch wasn't always on the schedule. But every trip ended with DELICIOUS pineapple milkshakes in Bay City.
Albert was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Wachel, and his mother, Josepha Bielamowicz Wachel. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Irene Wachel; by his brothers: Clyde, George, and Ray and his sisters: Dolores, Florence, Doris, and Mae. He is survived by Daughters: Sandy Lawrence, Sharon Scearce, and Brenda Wachel
Sons-in-Law: Paul Lawrence, Mike Scearce
Grandchildren: Matt Lawrence (wife Megan), Greg Moore (wife Allison), Zach Moore (wife Lindy)
Great Grandchildren: Charlotte and Whitney Lawrence, Davey and Marty Kay Moore, and Scarlett Louise Moore

A funeral mass and celebration of Albert's life will be held on May 21, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek, Texas at 11:00 am followed by Internment. Visitation will begin at 9:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church on May 21, 2025, followed by the praying of the Rosary.
Al was bigger than life to his three daughters. We will miss his physical presence but know that he will be with us every day in our hearts and memories.
