Alice Faye Wilmoth Martin, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, August 8, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born in Halifax County on February 6, 1944 to John Tyree Wilmoth and Maggie Hardy Wilmoth.
Alice was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a testament to love, dedication, and resilience. She was well known for her quilting, and loved gardening and canning. Throughout her years, Alice touched the lives of many by opening her home to many children for child care. Her favorite past time was watching the Boston Red Sox and reading her extensive library of books. She loved her children & grandchildren dearly and leaves behind a legacy of love carried forward by her beloved family and countless friends.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Martin; her children, Amy Martin Perkins (Kevin), Jeffrey Thomas Martin (April), Kristy Marie Martin & Terri Martin Oakes (Eric); sisters, Velma Wilmoth Phillips & Elaine Wilmoth Pettry; grandchildren, C.G. Wagstaff, Dylan Oakes, Andrew Oakes, Brayden Martin, Lainey Perkins & Brody Martin and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Loretta Ann Cassada, Hodges Hagood Wilmoth, Kenneth Wayne Wilmoth & David Bernard Wilmoth.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 11, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3192 Dan River Church Road, South Boston with President Mac Bugg officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilmoth family cemetery, 1187 Blounts Crossing, Clover, VA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 10th from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home.
