It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice Evans Sliakis, aged 81, on Saturday, December 28, 2024. A cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and kindness that will deeply be missed by all who knew her.
Born on September 4, 1943, Alice devoted her life to her family and friends, always putting others before herself. Her home was a haven full of laughter, love, and the irresistible aroma of her famous pound cakes, which she was always eager to share with those she cared about. Baking was not just a skill of hers but an act of love. Alice loved the outdoors, walking, bowling and dancing. She could always be seen walking around the block with her devoted four-legged companion Toby.
Her greatest pride and joy were her two daughters, Melinda and Anna and her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was their biggest supporter, always offering a listening ear, attending events, spoiling them, or simply her warm embrace. Her unconditional love and dedication created a bond that will be treasured and held close forever.
Alice loved people and always had a talent for making everyone feel like part of her family. Her home and pool was always open for gatherings and celebrations that made countless memories for all that came by.
She is survived by her daughters, Melinda (Carl), and Anna (Randy) who will continue to honor her memory and carry her love forward; her beloved grandchildren, Skylar (Troy), Joseph, Grant (Hannah), Pierson and many others who knew and loved her as Grandma Alice also.
She is now reunited with her husband of 60 years, Joe Sliakis, where they will be eternally dancing their nights away. Alice will be deeply missed by her family, friends and her community but fondly remembered for her love, laughter, and the countless lives she touched.
Her family asks you to join them for a celebration of her life on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the White Stone Volunteer Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in her memory to the White Stone Volunteer Fire Department. She loved that Department and was always so proud when she'd see those white trucks go by.
The family would also like to thank Hospice of Virginia and Maria George Jones for their compassion and care to her and her family in her final days
Though our hearts ache with her loss, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the lives she touched. She will forever be remembered as a beacon of love, generosity, and warmth. Rest in peace, Grandma. You were deeply loved and will be forever missed.
