Allegra G. Ellis, 81, of Altamont, died at 11:35 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Ralph Rounds officiating. Burial will follow at Arborcrest Memorial Park, rural Effingham. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 13th at the funeral home and for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to C.E.F.S. Meals on Wheels or the Epworth Journey Camp.
Allegra was born on Friday, November 5, 1943 on the family farm in rural Altamont, to Louis G. and Emma A. (Buchholz) Finfrock. She married David L. Ellis on November 7, 1965 at the Dexter Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2019. She was a member of Dexter Methodist Church. In addition to being a homemaker and caregiver, she was a rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and the site supervisor with Meals on Wheels in Altamont.
She is survived by: her daughter, Amy Ellis of Altamont; sons, Mike (Brittina) Ellis of Louisville and Kevin (Wanda) Ellis of Altamont; grandchildren; Tabitha Parcell, Timber (Trenton Ramirez) Nelson, Makayla Ellis, Jerry Fleming, and Matthew Parkhurst; great grandchildren, Annelise, Freya, Rayland and one on the way; sister-in-law, Marsha Finfrock of Altamont; brother-in-law, Gerald Young of rural Effingham; brother and sister-in-law, Gary (Jo) Ellis; and several nieces and nephews.
Allegra was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; daughter, Laura Lynn Ellis; mother and father-in-law, John F. and Clare E. Ellis; brothers, John (Marcia) Finfrock and Benson Finfrock; sisters, Sarah (James) Warren, Luella (Harlan) Hooks, Mary Ann Young, and Jane (Danny) Pugsley; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Patricia Ellis; niece, Abby Ellis; great nephew, Tyler Davidson; and great niece, Clare Rivera.
