Allen Glen Burt, a man who will be remembered for always lending a hand and great faith in the Lord, died on July 10, 2025. Allen, 75, of Charlotte was born July 15, 1949, in Charlotte to Glen and Bertie (Corbin) Burt, one of twelve children.
He was the man who always lent a hand, to help in any way he could. Allen served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He left an indelible mark in others as the "rock or cornerstone" of his family.
Allen learned from his work ethic from his father as they worked together doing body work on cars, in their garage. He was a delivery manager for the Lansing State Journal and the Detroit Free Press for several years. Some of Allen's favorite television choices were gospel shows, and WWE wrestling; that's when he wasn't fishing or playing the Michigan Lottery.
Memories from his siblings include making the original "three-mile-trail" along the railroad tracks in the southeast corner of town. His children will remember listening to "oldies" with their dad and if nobody else was listening, he'd even sing along. He will also be remembered for taking care of his elderly parents into their advanced years, something he was proud to do. Most of all his family will remember Allen's reminder from the Word of God, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked" Galatians 6:7a.
Allen is survived by his son, Joseph (Candi Miller) Burt; granddaughter Mackenzie Johnson; sisters, Lois Ketner, Margaret Johnson, and Judy Thornhill; brothers, Doug Burt, Jim Burt, and Fred Burt; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Glen and Bertie Burt; sisters, Marlene Davids and Sandy Parish; brothers, Gary Burt, Jerry Burt, and Larry Burt. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
