She is survived by daughter, Carolyn Gentry (Bobby); son Bennie Covington; sisters, Mary Thompson, Helen Huven, Carol Wynn, Gracie Pope, Dorothy Hubbard (Butch); brothers, Horace Taylor (Dorothy), Lee Taylor, Bobby Taylor. Alva is also survived by 9 grandchildren as well as numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Alva's services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in the chapel of Charter Funeral Home in Calera, with her visitation to begin at 10:30 a.m. until her service at 11:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest with her husband in the Alabama National Cemetery with a committal service time at 1:15 p.m.
