Alvin David Milner was born on August 9, 1961, in Philadelphia, PA. David grew up in the Holy Bethel Church COGIC serving in many roles. David graduated from Germantown High School in 1979.
He attended George Washington University and majored in Electrical Engineering. While at GWU, David met the love of his life, April Samantha Stokes, and upon graduation, David began his professional career as a hardware engineer starting at Sprint International. April and David married on February 17, 1990, to this union, two sons were born: Cameron David and William Brandon.
Following Sprint international David continued to work at a number of innovative telecommunications/data communications companies including Newbridge Networks, 3Com, Ocular Networks, and VI iDirect. Technologies he worked with included Frame Relay, ATM, DSL, fiber optics, and satellites, all of which steadily improved the speed and reliability of computer networking. He was an expert programmer in a variety of computer languages from assembler to C++ and Java.
David's coworkers were always excited to work with him as he was a joy to be around. They always made sure to recruit one another when new opportunities became available.
David was a devoted father, and his greatest joy was being a dad and teaching his sons baseball. David spent many years with each son as they progressed from Little League to travel to high school ball. Like his father, David loved golf and in March David went on a golf trip with his buddies in Orlando, Florida.
April and David were planning for retirement, they both received sailing certifications, and they had started to travel. Iceland and British Virgin Islands were recent destinations. David retired first and fell in love with Quillo - Brandon's cat that he brought home when he returned after the pandemic to work on his master's degree. When the boys were younger, they would rent a house in the Outer Banks, NC with several college friends and their families. This May the Milners returned to the Outer Banks for a family vacation joined by the newest addition, Quillo.
On Saturday, June 28, 2025, David went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife April, sons Cameron and Brandon; his brother Derrol(Angelo) Milner and sister Mishael Milner Nash (Quentin); his nephew Ibin Nash; a host of aunts and uncles: Uncle Clifton ("OD") and (Rebecca ), Uncle Calvin(Ruby), Aunt Annette Glass, Uncle Abdul (Hydiatih), Aunt Yvonne Reid(Curtis), Aunt Bernice Weston(Samuel), Aunt Alberta James (Vernon), Uncle Sonny Judge(Elizabeth) and Uncle Harry Judge(Rita Thomas-Judge), mother-in-law Bevonne L. Stokes; and uncle-in-law Dr. George Langford (Sylvia); and a host of cousins, family and friends.
David was predeceased by his parents: Alvin and Louise Omeda Judge Milner, stepmother Carole Anne Harris Milner, and his maternal grandparents Rev. Harry and Annie Judge.
