Amanda Bridges Obituary

Amanda Louise Peninger Bridges, age 64, passed away peacefully in her sleep from cancer while at home with her husband, Steve, on June 7, 2025. She was born December 16, 1960, in Spartanburg, SC to the late David and Sally Peninger.

Amanda loved children and was a born teacher. She taught grades K-2 at Ben Hazel Primary, in Hampton, SC, for 27 years. Amanda was very active in her church often volunteering and singing in the choir. She also loved movies, music, and was an avid fan of her Carolina Gamecocks.

Amanda is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sarah Virginia Peninger.

Amanda is survived by her husband Steve, her sister Elizabeth "Betsy" (Erik) Huffine and her children and their families; Nancy Ann (Michael) Light, Britney (Eli), Ava, Jakib (Sofi), and Matthew (deceased) (Matthew's son Al and Al's mother Lizzy); Erin Elizabeth (Paul) McCurdy, Emma, Rylen, Dalten, Sadie, Haven, and Harper; Chelsea Louise (Cihan) Yavuz, Yunus, Irmak, Emir, and Luna; Stephen David (Natalie) Bridges; Morgan Phillips (Andrew) Bryant; Virginia-Grace Bridges.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-12:00 pm, Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Hampton First Baptist Church, 305 Oak Street E, Hampton, SC 29924. A celebration of Amanda's life will take place at 12:00 pm in the church sanctuary.

Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Amanda's name to Mirasol Health, PO Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910.

Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the Bridges family during this time.
