Ancel Dacus Obituary

Ancel "Theo" Dacus was born on October 8, 1929, in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Cecil and
Minnie Dacus. He was born in Lindsay on the Dacus family's home place. Theo married
Erna Dean Ramage on February 3, 1950, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. They made their home
in Pauls Valley where he farmed forty-four years before moving back to the farm in Lindsay
in November of 2001. He was in the United States Army for two years where he served as a
cook. Theo was a faithful member of the Lindsay Church of Christ. He served as an Elder
at the Paul and Pine Church of Christ in Pauls Valley, then also at the Lindsay Church of
Christ. He was a passionate farmer and rancher. The thing he enjoyed most in life was
serving and teaching others about God. His family was the second most important, he
loved spending quality time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He
loved all the "Dacus" holidays, especially Christmas and the annual "Dacus Easter Egg
Hunt" that has been a tradition for over sixty-five years. Theo enjoyed raising Dacus Beef
and gardening through the years.
Theo went to be with the Lord on Thursday January 2, 2025, at his home in Lindsay,
Oklahoma at the age of 95. He has left a legacy behind, made an imprint on the lives of his
family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
Theo was survived by his son Dale and his wife Eileen Dacus of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma,
son in law Steve Mullins of Ardmore, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Amanda Riddle of Pauls
Valley, Oklahoma and fiancé Mike Henderson of Elmore City, Oklahoma; Diana Clampitt of
Ada Oklahoma; Andy Millins and wife Marsha of Greer, South Carolina; Heather Thompson
and husband David of Fate, Texas; Lynze Martin and husband Brandon Naifeh of
Tishomingo, Oklahoma: Bryan Davis and wife Amber of Henryetta, Oklahoma; Robert Ford
and wife Jennifer of Burleson, Texas; Amber Ford of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; great-
grandchildren: Lilly Ann Mullins, Layla Kay Mullins, Logan Thompson, Cooper Thompson,
Madison Stucks and husband Kurry, Maci Riddle, Jake Clampitt, Kynlee Martin, Kyler
Naifeh, Bailee Davis, Kade Davis, Jody Ford, David Ford, Jase Ford, and Noah Galvin. Three
sisters-in-law Inetha Dacus, Ada Dacus and Carlene Dacus. A host of nieces and
nephews.
Theo was preceded in death by his wife Erna Dean Dacus of 67 years, one daughter
Catherine Kay Mullins, one son Jimmy Duanne Dacus, parents Cecil and Minnie Dodds
Dacus, in-laws Doyle and Callie Ramage, eight siblings Vernon Dacus, Homer Dacus, Alice
Merrell, Elmer Dacus, Earl Dacus, Clarence Dacus, Eula Mae Hasley, Wanda Pratt.
Visitation for Theo will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, January 6, 2025, at the Wilbourn Family Funeral Home Chapel, 308 S.W. 3rd Street, Lindsay, Oklahoma.
Funeral Services for Theo will be at 1: 30 P.M. Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Lindsay Church
of Christ, 1205 West Cherokee Street, Lindsay, Oklahoma with John Curtis officiating.
Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, Oklahoma.
