Andrew P. Puopolo "Zea" of Jamaica Plain formerly of the North End of Boston passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 101. Beloved husband of Helen J. Puopolo (Gandolfo) of 74 years. Devoted father of Francesca Sciaba and her husband Paul of Westwood, Daniel G. Puopolo and his wife Karen of the North End, and the late Andrew P. Puopolo Jr. Cherished brother of Dr. Anthony Puopolo and his wife Donna, Louise Caspariello and her late husband Sal, and the late Rocco Puopolo and Phyllis Collura. Loving "Papa" of Leah Sciaba and her husband Paul Baryski, Rachel Sciaba and her husband Mark Osyf, Andrew Sciaba, Maria Michlewitz and her husband Aaron, Andrew Puopolo, and Kristin Puopolo. Great grandfather of Sammy, Peter, Charlie, and Vanessa and also survived by many loving nieces nephews, in laws, and friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at 9:30 AM Our Lady of the Cedars of Lebanon Church 61 Rockwood Street Jamaica Plain. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, relatives and friends invited.

Andrew emigrated from Italy as a young boy and moved to the North End. He attended Boston English High School and then volunteered to serve in the Marine Corps where he participated in 4 invasions in the Pacific Theatre - Task Force 58, Battle of Guam, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. His recollection of his service can be seen on YouTube - "Memoirs of WW2 Episode 36." He worked for years in the family's food distribution business and eventually opened up APCO DIST. INC with his son Daniel. He loved working around the yard and planted many flowers which he loved. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His whole world evolved around the love of his life, his wife Helen who he was married to for 74 years. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, toughness, but also a man who believed in loyalty and respect. He is now with the Lord and family and reunited with his beloved son Andrew Puopolo Jr.
