"A jolly good mixer, a jolly good pal, no wonder Angela's such a popular gal"
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Angela Blossick of Storrs, Connecticut on July2, 2025 at the age of 89 years.
Angela was born Feb 11, 1936 in Willimantic Connecticut. Angela attended Windham High School Class of 1953, and then graduated from Becker Junior College with a degree in Retail Merchandising. After working in New York City, she worked at the once famous G. Fox & Co. in Hartford, Connecticut when Beatrice Fox made retail glamorous.
Never being content with just concentrating on work, Angela was always gracious and willing to say yes and lend a hand to anyone who needed help. Her participation and leadership with civic organizations was monumental. Angela was involved with Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, St. Joseph's Church bereavement committee, and organizing High School reunions up until 2023.
Additionally, Angela was instrumental in helping form the Eastern Connecticut Darts Association and was a member of the America Dart Association. After forming the ECDA. Angela and her husband Leonard (Mel) Blossick, as owners of the Shell Chateau restaurant in Willimantic CT, hosted the first Colonial Open dart tournament.
Finally retiring at age 75, Angela still didn't slow down. She focused on taking care of Mel and spending time with her hobbies. Angela was an avid reader and could always be found reading a new book-sometimes two at a time!. She also had a great love of flowers and would always plant them in the spring and couldn't resist buying more at the nursery when she went. As a member of the Garden Club, she enjoyed gardening and landscaping with her newly grown and purchased plants. Angela and husband Mel were also both avid golfers and would vacation on Cape Cod at various times during the year to enjoy the Cape Cod golf courses and restaurants Angela was also an accomplished cook and taught classes to beginning chefs at Windham Tech. We all loved her Polish dishes and we will certainly miss them, her, and how she made a house smell and feel like home every day.
Angela is preceded in death by Husband Leonard (Mel) Blossick and Mother and Father William and Sophia Sledjeski. Angela is survived by her son John W. Blossick; and daughter Mariann Blossick; brothers Bill, Michael, and sister Janie. She also leaves behind grandson John L. Blossick and his wife Claudia, and granddaughter Jessica and great granddaughter Sarah.
