Anissa M. Herrera, 30, of Mathis, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025. She was born on November 25, 1994, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Arturo Jr. and Maria M. Herrera. Anissa graduated from Mathis High School, and she was a talented guitarron player in the school's mariachi. She worked as a hairdresser where she helped transform the look of many who went to her. Anissa was a beloved mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Anissa was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Arturo Herrara Sr. and Francisco Rodriguez, and her uncle, Gabriel Herrera.
Anissa is survived by her beloved son, Israel Ortiz, her parents, Arturo Jr. and Maria M. Herrera, her siblings Andrew (Melody) Herrera, Christina (Aaron) Rodriguez, and Brianna (Hunter Garza) Herrera. She is also survived by her grandmothers, Juanita Vasquez and Damiana Herrera, her nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Primera Iglesia Bautista, with the Prayer Service to be held at 6:00pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00am at Primera Iglesia Bautista. Interment will follow at Descanso Eterno Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers will be Michael Romero, Danny Coronado, Aaron Herrera, Aaron Rodriguez, Eleasar Chavez Jr., and Frank Galvan Jr. The honorary pallbearer will be Esperanza Medrano.
Anissa's life was a testament to the beauty she created around her. We invite you to celebrate her life by sharing your memories, stories, and photographs on her memorial page. Let us remember Anissa for how she lived - full of life, love, and laughter.
