Obituary of Anita Miller
Mrs. Anita Miller, 100, of Webster Street, Fort Plain, New York, passed away on May 16, 2025.
Born on January 10, 1925, in Ithaca, NY, she was the daughter of Domenico Simloni Seamon and Annina Saraullo Seamon. She graduated from Ithaca High School, Class of 1942, and had been a local area resident of Fort Plain since 1952.
Mrs. Miller served on the Election Board as an Inspector for many years for the Democratic Party. She was a diehard democrat.
She was a member of the Fort Plain Reformed Church.
Mrs. Miller was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, holding the office of District Chairman and Treasurer, as well as many offices locally and nationally.. For 70 years, Mrs. Miller helped hand out "Poppies" for the American Legion. She started her membership with the American Legion Auxiliary in Hilton, NY. She also helped at the Albany VA Hospital and supported the local Girls State through the local American Legion Auxiliary. Anita enjoyed family reunions, dressing up, and getting things going at the Talent Show with her sisters. Other things that she enjoyed were Tuesday night bowling at the Fort Plain Bowling alley for many years, helping with banquets, and spending time with her friends at the Old Mill Inn, crafting, keeping her home, her plants and flowers, and bringing family and friends together with her great cooking and baking.
On January 8, 1948, Anita was married to Herbert C. Miller. He was working for GLF in Ithaca at the time, after the war. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1990. She was also predeceased by 2 brothers, Robert "Bobby" and William "Billy" Seamon; 6 sisters, Ita Wade, Anna Mahool, Lucy Golden, Marie Gaydash, Margaret "Peggy" LaPointe, and Harriet Golden
Mrs. Miller is survived by her children, James and Karen Miller, Pamela Miller, Timothy Miller, and Karla Shiminski; 4 grandchildren, Catherine Leonard, Zachary Miller, Jeremy Rokjer, and Vivian Miller, 3 great-grandchildren, Hannah Leonard, Janae Leonard, and Mathea Leonard, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Fort Plain Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, with burial following at Fort Plain Cemetery.

So sad to see that Aunt Anita has passed away. Now all the Swans are together again, and they will be able to dance around their Lake. She always told the joke "my name´s not...." changing the name every time but it was always funny. She could definitely always make you laugh. She will be missed. May she R eat In Heavenly Peace with all her siblings. Give G-Ma a kiss for me up there please.
