Ann Muckleroy, 88, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, in The Springs Memory Care Center in San Angelo, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be held at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 8th, at 2pm.
Ann was born Hazel Ann Fanning on May 16, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas to parents JR and Hazel Fanning. They moved to Wichita Falls while she was still an infant and she grew up there, graduating from Wichita Falls High School in 1955. After high school, Ann continued her education at the University of Texas where she graduated with a degree in English.
She met John Muckleroy in Wichita Falls, where she returned after graduation, and they were married on December 9, 1961. John was a career military officer, and they raised their family in numerous states including New Hampshire, Louisiana, Michigan and Texas.
Ann chose to stay home and raise her children and was very busy, especially in the early years while John was away in the Vietnam War. After John's retirement from the military, they moved to San Angelo where they enjoyed the warm weather, the friendly people and the dancing. Ann was an avid dancer who loved almost any kind of dance. She grew up dancing ballet and enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, clogging and line dancing. Through the years, she and John traveled to many square and round dance festivals around the country.
Ann is survived by husband John Muckleroy; children Lee Muckleroy and wife Michelle of Rutledge, TN; Bob McElroy and wife Karen of Houston, TX; Kel Muckleroy and wife Mariana of Windsor, CO; Jan Chitsey and husband Doug of San Angelo, TX; grandchildren Catherine, Robert, David, Sarah, James, Kristie, Alex, Matthew, Kyle, Eli, Tre, Clint, Tye, Jordan, and seven great grandchildren.
