Ann King White, 96, of Kirkwood, MO was the second (middle child) of three daughters born in Bartlesville, OK to Carlisle and Irene (Hodges) Carpenter. She attended Lakeview School and graduated from Dewey High School. She earned her degree from Oklahoma A&M in Vocational Home Economics. Her first job was working for the Kansas Gas Service teaching customers how to cook with gas and published a cookbook for utility customers.
She married John Russell King in 1951 and moved to Lubbock, TX where he was serving in the US Air Force. After his honorable discharge they relocated to Kirkwood, MO where she began a career in elementary education. She taught in downtown St. Louis and retired from the Des Peres, MO school system.
After the death of John King in 1965, she married Roy E. White in 1972.
She was actively involved in the Kirkwood United Methodist Church serving in many different leadership roles. She was a member of PEO, Junior League and other social and interfaith organizations.
She is predeceased by her parents, husbands, and children Edward Bentley King, Elizabeth Ann King and Roy's daughter Meredith Patton.
She is survived by two sisters Marie McCrary and Beth Thornton, Roy's son Larry White, and many nephews, nieces, grandchildren and other family members.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 5th at 10 a.m., at the Dewey Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com
A memorial service in Kirkwood, MO will be scheduled at a later date.
