Anna Marie Apicella
Of Deposit, NY
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Marie (Gabriele) Apicella on July 2, 2025, at the age of 84 years. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Theresa (Angelo) Ragosta and Michele Apicella-Luning; and by her sister Geraldine Campo. Anna Marie will also be fondly remembered as Nan, by her grandchildren, Amanda (Joshua) Apicella-Springstead, JD Peralta, Anthony Peralta, John (Patricia) Luning, Gerard (Nathaly) Luning, Brandon (Christal) Luning, Timothy (Chiara) Penso, Vincent Apicella and Robert (Mahogany) Ragosta; and her 11 great-grandchildren. Anna Marie was predeceased by her husband Alfonse (Funzie) Apicella; her son, Vincent Apicella, and her mother Margaret (Ianniello) Gabriele.
Anna Marie grew up in the Bronx and lived in Deposit for over 30 years. She found her greatest joy in the simple but meaningful parts of life-family, friends, and cooking delicious meals from the heart. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked food and the sound of laughter. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, no matter the circumstances. Her home was a haven-where anyone could come with their problems and always find a listening ear, a warm plate, and a sense of peace. She also loved tending her garden and feeding the birds, finding quiet happiness in nature's small moments.
A Mass of Catholic Burial in memory of Anna Marie will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 7,2025, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church Deposit, NY. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery also in Deposit, NY. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 7th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hennessy's Funeral Home 78 Second Street, Deposit, NY.
